The verdict

Go only if Monday Oct 12 is your day. That is the single date in our window when the chairlift runs, since it is Fridays, weekends and holidays only. It needs a car and most of a day, and it is a real commitment for a four-day trip. If you want colours without the drive, stay on Mont Royal; if you want the Townships, this is a good way to do it.

Tourisme Montréal: it is customary to tip restaurant servers, taxi drivers and hairdressers 15% of the bill, before taxes. Bellhops, porters and doormen generally get at least $2 per bag or service; coffee and food counters often have a tip cup by the register.
