The verdict

Worth an hour on the way along the canal, ideally as lunch or a picnic haul. Go for cheese, charcuterie and a bakery stop rather than a big sightseeing block. The catch is Thanksgiving Monday: the official banner promises Thanksgiving weekend openings but never confirms Monday, so confirm before you go.

  • Near the Airbnb and the Lachine Canal
  • About 80 vendors incl. cheese, butchers, bakery, food counters
  • Free and mostly indoors

What it costs

$$$$Free entry

Free to enter; spend depends on vendors. Paid parking only if driving.

Our estimate from posted prices, CAD, before tax and tip. Québec purchases carry the 5% federal GST plus the 9.975% Québec Sales Tax (QST, TVQ in French): 14.975% combined on taxable items. Tourisme Montréal: it is customary to tip restaurant servers, taxi drivers and hairdressers 15% of the bill, before taxes. Bellhops, porters and doormen generally get at least $2 per bag or service; coffee and food counters often have a tip cup by the register.
