The verdict
A fun change of pace and easy on the wallet: most plates are $14-18. Go Wednesday or Thursday (it's closed Sunday to Tuesday, so Thanksgiving Monday is out), split a cheeseboat and a couple of dumpling plates, and finish with medovik. It's a laid-back neighbourhood dinner rather than a destination meal, and it keeps early hours midweek: the last online booking is 8:45pm.

Cheeseboat (khachapuri)
$14Boat of house-made dough filled with melted fresh mozzarella and sulguni, topped with a runny egg yolk and butter. Comes plain, with spinach and bryndza, with smoked bacon and sausage, or with saucy braised beef and pickles.
The signature, and The Main says it's still the dish to order. Stir the yolk and butter into the cheese, then tear off crust to dip.

Siberian pelmeni
$16Dumplings filled with a veal, beef and parsley blend, served either with sautéed mushrooms, aioli and dill, or with spicy adjika sauce, cilantro and scallions.
The menu says every dumpling is made in-house from dough to filling, and The Main names the pelmeni among the reasons the menu holds up beyond the cheese boat.
