The verdict

Our pick for a splurge steak night: prime and 31-day dry-aged beef cooked at your table on smokeless grills, in an elegant room designed by Zébulon Perron that Tastet put on its most beautiful restaurants list. For two, the $79 Butcher's Selection (four cuts, seven banchan, jjigae, steamed egg, rice and dessert) is the smart order; the $115 omakase adds truffle, uni and oysters for the full show. The catch: it is closed Sunday and Monday, so Thanksgiving is out, and all the praise we could check comes from one publication.

  • On Tastet's best new restaurants of 2026 list (updated Sept 30, 2026), plus its best of Old Montréal and most beautiful restaurants lists
  • Korean BBQ run like a steakhouse: a nine-course grill omakase at $115 or a $79 butcher's set
  • From the team behind Bar Otto, Otto Yakitori and Pony BBQ, per Tastet
  • Smokeless table grills, so you will not carry the barbecue smell to your next stop (Tastet)
  • Open 5-11pm Tuesday to Saturday, so Oct 13, 14 and 15 all work

Hana Korean Steakhouse, the short list

  • Must order

Chef's Selection: 9-course omakase (Sélection du chef)

    $115

Beef tartare tartelette, shrimp toast, filet mignon with truffle, grilled vegetables or wedge salad, 31-day dry-aged strip loin with mustard seed, oysters, ribeye with uni, hanger steak with kosho, hansang with galbi and sundubu soup, then fresh fruit and dessert.

The headline act: a tasting menu built around the table grill, with premium meats, truffle and caviar prepared tableside per the official site, and the dish Tastet leads with.

On their menu: Official website (menu image). Per person, on the official menu uploaded July 14, 2026. Tastet's January 2026 review gave $150, so confirm when booking.

  • Butcher's Selection (Sélection du boucher)

    $79

One in-house dry-aged cut plus three specialty cuts for the grill, seven seasonal banchan, house jjigae, steamed egg and rice, and dessert.

The better-value way in: the grill, the dry-aged beef and the banchan spread for $36 less a head than the omakase.

On their menu: Official website (menu image). Per person.

  • 31-day dry-aged rib eye (Côte de bœuf vieillie 31 jours)

    $75

House dry-aged rib eye from the Prime Grade+ section, cooked at the table.

If you go à la carte, this is the house-aged beef Tastet singles out.

On their menu: Official website (menu image). The 31-day dry-aged strip loin is $68.

  • Japanese A5 wagyu (1 oz)

    $30

One ounce of Japanese A5 wagyu for the grill.

The cheapest way to taste the wagyu Tastet says rules the room: add an ounce to either set.

On their menu: Official website (menu image). Per ounce.

  • Short rib galbi, 5 oz (Galbi côtes levées coréennes)

    $52

Soy-marinated short rib for the grill.

The Korean BBQ classic, and the cut to add if the table wants something marinated alongside the steaks.

On their menu: Official website (menu image). A salt-marinated short rib with sesame and green onion is $54.

  • Beef tartare (yukhoe)

    $23

Beef tartare with Asian pear, gim (seaweed) crostini, pickled mushroom and Parmesan.

A yukhoe-style opener; a version also starts the omakase, which Tastet mentions.

On their menu: Official website (menu image)

  • Shrimp toast

    $19

Shrimp coleslaw, avocado and barley puffs on milk bread.

It is also course two of the omakase, so à la carte diners get a piece of the tasting menu.

On their menu: Official website (menu image)

  • Mun-eo gnocchi (octopus)

    $32

Octopus with spicy tteokbokki sauce, sour cream and lotus root.

The menu's most playful Korean mash-up, for a break from beef. Our pick from the menu, not a crowd verdict.

What people actually say

Recurring themes, not cherry-picked quotes.

Love

  • A high-end Korean BBQ that still feels like a party: the grill sits in the table and beef is the star, from prime to house-aged to wagyu (Tastet review, Jan 2026, and its 2026 lists)
  • Smokeless grills, so you leave without smelling of barbecue (Tastet)
  • The room: an elegant décor signed Zébulon Perron, which Tastet also put on its most beautiful restaurants list
  • A wine list of reds, whites and skin-contact wines plus sake, which Tastet found accessible for the level of cooking

Know before you go

  • No pork on the menu: beef is the whole show (Tastet)
  • Tastet's January write-up priced the omakase at $150; the current official menu says $115
  • Closed Sunday and Monday: no Thanksgiving Monday dinner here (not on Tastet's Oct 12 open list)
  • Book on OpenTable through the official site; we could not check Oct 13-15 availability, deposits or card holds
  • No pork: it is beef plus seafood (Tastet)
  • It adds up fast: cuts run $52-75 each, A5 wagyu is $30 an ounce, caviar service $95-190, and drink prices are not online
  • Tastet's January review quoted the omakase at $150; the official July 2026 menu says $115 per person, so confirm when you book

Dishes that keep coming up

Nine-course omakase, House-aged beef, Wagyu, Beef tartare, Shrimp

Room
Tastet describes it as high-end but festive and convivial, with the grill at the centre of the table, 67 seats at tables of four and six plus a 13-seat bar.
Service
Per the official site, chefs and servers cook each cut at your table, and Tastet says the team explains each cut. We found no independent diner feedback on service.
Value
Tastet calls the wine list accessible for the level of the cooking. At $79 for the butcher's set and $115 for nine courses, this is special-occasion pricing; we found no independent take on value.

All third-party opinion here comes from one publication, Tastet: a January 2026 opening review (updated May 2026) and four 2026 lists that largely reuse the same blurb. Web search was unavailable in this pass, so no other critics (Gazette, La Presse, Cult MTL), Reddit threads or diner reviews were checked, and OpenTable, Google and Instagram could not be read. The dish picks are our choices from the official menu, not crowd favourites.

How much we'll spend

$$$$Est. $79-115 / person

Food only, from the official menu (images uploaded July 14, 2026): the Butcher's Selection set is $79 per person and the 9-course Chef's Selection omakase is $115 per person. A la carte, grill cuts run $52-75 each, Japanese A5 wagyu is $30 per ounce and starters $16-28. Drink prices are not published, so one drink goes on top: the butcher's set lands near the top of tier 3 and the omakase well into tier 4.

Our estimate from posted prices, CAD, before tax and tip. Québec purchases carry the 5% federal GST plus the 9.975% Québec Sales Tax (QST, TVQ in French): 14.975% combined on taxable items. Tourisme Montréal: it is customary to tip restaurant servers, taxi drivers and hairdressers 15% of the bill, before taxes. Bellhops, porters and doormen generally get at least $2 per bag or service; coffee and food counters often have a tip cup by the register.

Details to confirm

  • Reservations: OpenTable could not be loaded, so availability for Tue Oct 13 to Thu Oct 15, deposit or card-hold rules and party-size limits are unconfirmed. Check OpenTable (restRef 1481839) soon.
  • Omakase price: the official menu (uploaded July 14, 2026) says $115 per person; Tastet's January 2026 review said $150. Confirm the current price, and whether the whole table must order the omakase or the Butcher's Selection.
  • Independent sentiment: only Tastet coverage was checked because the web search budget was used up. Look for Montreal Gazette, La Presse and Cult MTL reviews and r/montreal threads before promoting it.
  • Closure, move or rebrand news was not searched; the official site (updated Sept 15, 2026) and Tastet lists updated up to Oct 1, 2026 say it is operating.
  • Oct 12 is treated as closed from the standing Sunday-Monday closure and Hana's absence from Tastet's Thanksgiving list; Instagram (@hanasteakhouse), where a special opening could be announced, was not checked.
  • Drink list and prices (wine, sake, cocktails) are not published online.
