The verdict
Yes, on a weekday morning. It's walk-in only and peak-hour lines are part of the deal, so aim for Tuesday to Thursday near the 8am opening. Split the Indecisive (eggs, potatoes, a savoury side and a sweet French toast or pancake stack) and the sweet-salty croque-madame benny, plus a bottle of mimosas if the day allows. It's small, packed and proudly excessive: come for fun, not finesse.

- Montréal brunch institution since 1994
- Open every day 8am-4pm, so it fits any trip morning
- Named among Montréal's popular brunch spots by Tourisme Montréal

L'Avenue, the short list
Must order
The Indecisive
$26Two free-range eggs, L'Avenue potatoes and bread, one savoury side (bacon, honey-orange glazed ham, house sausage, cretons, veggie pâté, guacamole or cheese), plus a sweet stack: pistachio, Dubai-chocolate, Nocciolata or berry-cheesecake French toast, or matcha-berry, peaches-and-cream or lemon-blueberry pancakes.
Ends the sweet-or-savoury standoff in one plate. Daily Hive pointed indecisive diners straight to it.
Must order
Sweet Savory Croque Madame
$25Two poached eggs on panko-crusted French toast with maple syrup and honey-orange glazed ham, under a grilled aged-cheddar mornay, with L'Avenue potatoes.
A croque-madame update of the house's sweet-salty benny on panko French toast, which Narcity singled out in 2021. The plate that best explains the place.
Truffle Duck
$28Eggs Benedict on an English muffin with duck confit, black truffle paste, roasted mushrooms, arugula, fried onions and four-year aged cheddar, plus potatoes.
The richest benny on the board, and the savoury anchor if the other plate is sweet.
Dubai Chocolate French Toast
$21French toast stuffed with pistachio butter and crunchy kataifi, dipped in chocolate, finished with dark chocolate ganache and crushed pistachio.
The most extra sweet plate on the menu. Split it rather than solo it.
Lemon Blueberry Pancakes
$20Three buttermilk pancakes with lemon custard, blueberry compote, crumble and house whipped cream, with unlimited organic maple syrup.
The brighter sweet pick when chocolate on chocolate feels like too much.
Bobby Does Dallas
$29Cassolette of three scrambled eggs with melted cheddar, AAA rib-eye, house BBQ sauce, mushrooms and onions over L'Avenue potatoes, with bread.
Steak-and-eggs energy for the hungriest person at the table.
Mimosas By The Bottle
$50A bottle of Fiol prosecco served with half a litre of fresh-squeezed orange juice.
The boozy-brunch move for two; Narcity singled out this bottle-plus-OJ setup back in 2021.
What people actually say
Recurring themes, not cherry-picked quotes.
Love
- Huge, inventive plates that mash sweet and savoury together; most people leave stuffed and happy
- The funky retro-disco decor is half the fun, and the disco-themed washroom comes up again and again
- Warm, friendly staff; reviewers often single out their servers by name
Know before you go
- A line is normal at peak; 2026 reviews report anything from a 10-minute wait to a long queue
- Service slows when the room is full, and one recent review describes a long wait for food
- Small, busy room, and some find the music loud; not a quiet-conversation brunch
- Some reviewers find the prices high for brunch, though portions are big
- Reviewers note that vegan options have been dropped
- No reservations: walk-in only
- Expect a line at peak times; weekends are worst, so go early on a weekday
Dishes that keep coming up
Eggs Benedict variations, Stuffed French toast, Pancake stacks, The Indecisive
- Room
- Colourful, retro-disco and deliberately extra: a small, packed room, a soundtrack some find loud, and a disco-themed washroom reviewers keep mentioning.
- Service
- Generally warm and professional; slower, and occasionally curt, when the line is out the door.
- Value
- Mains run $20-29 on the official menu; some reviewers call that steep, others say the portion size justifies it.
