The verdict
Yes, for a fun, loud dinner for two rather than a quiet catch-up. Grab stools at the bar, start with a pisco sour and share five or six plates: the namesake salmon tiradito plus the ceviche, crab causa and yuca fries the house lists among its specialties. It's open nightly from 5pm per the official site, so it slots in easily, but Thanksgiving Monday has no confirmation either way, so book or call first. The catch: small plates add up and the music runs loud.

Tiradito, the short list
Must order
Tiradito de saumon (salmon tiradito)
$20Sliced salmon in an aji amarillo leche de tigre with avocado, cucumber, red onion, choclo corn, crispy rice noodles and habanero.
The dish the place is named after: a sashimi-style Peruvian cousin of ceviche, done here with Nikkei touches.
Must order
Pisco sour
$19Peruvian pisco, fresh lime, simple syrup and egg white; a passion fruit (maracuya) version is also offered.
Cocktails draw the most consistent praise in 2026 coverage and recent reviews, and this is the classic to start with. The Chilcano (pisco, lime, ginger beer, $17) is the lighter alternative.
Ceviche classique
$24Catch of the day in leche de tigre with cancha (toasted corn), lime, salt and coriander.
The benchmark plate and a house-listed specialty. RestoMontreal's 2026 ceviche roundup singles it out; recent diners split between a Peruvian guest who loved it and one who found it bland.
Causa de crabe (crab causa)
$22Crab causa with maple emulsion, fried camote (sweet potato), tobiko, avocado and togarashi.
Causa is one of the specialties the house names, and this version carries the Japanese accents (tobiko, togarashi).
Frites de yuca (yuca fries)
$16Yuca fries with a traditional huancaína emulsion.
A house-listed specialty and the easy crowd-pleaser to anchor the table between raw-fish plates.
Chicharron / salade de mangue
$17Crispy pork belly with mango salad, red onion and teriyaki sauce.
Chicharron is on the house's own short list of specialties; a rich, sweet-salty counterweight to the ceviches.
Pollo frito
$17Fried chicken with salsa criolla and a huacatay (Peruvian herb) vinaigrette.
A September 2026 diner singled it out as very tender with a light batter.
What people actually say
Recurring themes, not cherry-picked quotes.
Love
- Sitting around the big central bar and watching the cooks and bartenders work is the main draw, in editorial and diner accounts alike
- Cocktails, especially the pisco-based ones, get the most consistent praise
- Fresh, colourful, spicy sharing plates; ceviche, salmon tartare and fried chicken get named by recent diners
- Staff come across as attentive and knowledgeable, good at steering first-timers through the menu
Know before you go
- Music is loud enough that several recent diners had to raise their voices to talk
- Stool seating around the bar is less comfortable for groups or long dinners
- Portions are tapas-sized and some find the bill high for the amount of food
- One diner noted the 2-hour reservation limit is enforced, politely
- Mixed notes on the ceviche: one Peruvian diner rated it highly, another found it bland
- Seating is built around one big bar on stools, so it suits two better than a group
- Music runs loud at peak times, per several diners in Sept and Oct 2026
Dishes that keep coming up
Ceviche classique, Salmon tartare, Octopus anticucho, Pollo frito (fried chicken), Pisco sour, Pisco spritz with ginger beer, Chicha morada
- Room
- About 60 seats built around a large angular bar with the kitchen in full view; high ceilings, wood beams, a pale green bar top, turquoise accents and hanging greenery. Upbeat Latin music that gets loud at peak; casual but stylish. Tastet (2022) notes a communal table at the back for groups.
- Service
- Mostly warm, attentive and knowledgeable in Sept-Oct 2026 reviews, with one complaint about a forgotten dish and a slow fix. Reservations reportedly run on a 2-hour turn.
- Value
- Tastet has long called it good value and keeps it on its fun-and-affordable list, but at $14-24 a plate and $16-19 a cocktail the bill climbs with each round; recent diners split between worth it and a bit pricey.
Vibe check
lively/buzzy/loud/design forward
Best fora lively dinner for two at the bar, pisco cocktails with small plates, an easy weeknight dinner downtown
How much we'll spend
Official menu (Feb 2026): plates $14-24 (most $16-22), desserts $13-15; cocktail menu: cocktails $16-19 (pisco sour $19, $22 with Mosto Verde pisco), mocktails $8-9. A Sept 2026 diner found 5 plates enough for two, so 2.5 to 3 plates each plus one cocktail lands around $60-70pp, more with extra rounds. Tastet tags it $$$, RestoMontreal $$.

Pair it with
- Club Pelicano, the same team's DJ cocktail bar in the alley beside Tiradito's front door, for a nightcap on Thursday (RestoMontreal lists it as open Thu-Sat only)
- Chifa, the team's Chinese-Peruvian restaurant next door at 1080 Rue de Bleury, for a different Larrea dinner on another night (listed as closed Sun-Mon)

Earlier pass reported parties of 1 to 8 online, no deposit, and wide-open slots for Oct 12-15; this pass could not re-verify availability, so treat it as unconfirmed. One Sept 2026 diner reports a 2-hour table limit. Libro profile reportedly lists a different phone number, (514) 866-6776; the official site and RestoMontreal list (450) 400-9500. Tastet (2022) mentions a communal table at the back for groups of up to 18.

Details to confirm
- Thanksgiving Monday Oct 12: Libro accepts bookings 17:00-21:00, but it also accepts them for Dec 25 and Jan 1, so it may not reflect holiday closures; no explicit holiday notice found (Instagram and Facebook not checked). Confirm by booking or phone.
- Menu currency: the official food PDF is dated Feb 21, 2026, and an Oct 3, 2026 diner mentions a massaman cauliflower dish that is not on it, so dishes and prices may have shifted.
- Phone: the official site lists (450) 400-9500, while Libro and a RestoMontreal article list (514) 866-6776. Which line reaches the restaurant directly is unconfirmed.
