The verdict

This is the classic Montréal splurge for cooking built on Québec ingredients with French and Asian technique. Go for the tasting menu if you want the full run, or order a la carte and keep it to a starter and a main if you don't. The catch for this trip: it is closed Mondays, so Thanksgiving is out, and you need a Tuesday to Thursday table.

Official menu: 6-course tasting 198 (dinner only, whole table); a la carte starters 31-37, mains 62-70, desserts 24; wine pairing 85-110 optional. Low end is starter + main + one glass; high end is tasting menu without pairing, before tax and tip. Lunch table d'hote exists but its total price is not clearly stated.

Our estimate from posted prices, CAD, before tax and tip. Québec purchases carry the 5% federal GST plus the 9.975% Québec Sales Tax (QST, TVQ in French): 14.975% combined on taxable items. Tourisme Montréal: it is customary to tip restaurant servers, taxi drivers and hairdressers 15% of the bill, before taxes. Bellhops, porters and doormen generally get at least $2 per bag or service; coffee and food counters often have a tip cup by the register.
